• Many experts suggest that swaddling eases babies through the shock of suddenly being out of the womb by replicating many of the sensations of the womb. This is why it is thought to improve sleep and relax infants.
• Wrapping should not cause overheating of a baby – but to ensure that this is the case, in warm weather wrap them in the Miracle Blanket while they are wearing a nappy only.
• Wrapping will not cause restriction of breathing as long as the wrap is not too tight – wrap the baby snugly, not tightly.
• If your baby likes to suck their thumb or fingers you can leave one arm out without losing the benefits of swaddling.
• Swaddling seems to work best for the first three to four months of a baby’s life. Once they show a reluctance to be wrapped after this time you can let them have their way.
