The Standard Hospital Pack Items include the following. Please see the Basic tab for items included in the Basic Hospital Pack.
Nappy Lotion - Sudocrem Sudocrem Healing Cream soothes inflamed skin while protecting your baby's delicate nappy area from irritants. Use Sudocrem at every nappy change to help form a protective barrier for your baby's skin.
Newborn Dummy - Pigeon While we understand that breast feeding is best for baby, sometimes it is not easy to do. The sucking action soothes some newborns - so dummies that are suitable for newborns are an item that may make life a little bit easier in hospital, and when you get home.
![]() | Feeding Bracelet - Fresh Mums This wrist band keeps track of your baby's feeds without having to record everything in a note book. Just use the band to note the latest feed details and it's there on your wrist for the next feed. Suitable for breast and bottle fed babies. |
![]() | Cotton Wool Balls and Plastic Bowl for nappy changes Newborns' bottoms can be very sensitive. Sometimes even the mildest wipes can be too rough in the first few days. Cotton wool balls and water can be gentler on your baby's skin. Try introducing wipes gradually. We have included a plastic bowl to hold water near your nappy change area. (NB. The bowl is not pictured) |
Nursing Pads - Pigeon (24 Pk) It is normal when you start breast feeding to have some leakage of milk from your nipples. Breast pads help keep you feeling dry and comfortable. Pigeon Ultra Slim Pads have an adhesive tape, a soft, dry lining and a super absorbent core. The pads will not show through clothing.
Maternity Pads - New Beginnings After having a baby, even after a c-section, maternity pads are an essential. The body needs to discard extra blood built up during the pregnancy. New Beginnings maternity pads have been designed specifically for this time. 5-7 pads may be used each day, so we've provided 2 packs. Some hospitals also provide pads for a few days.
Nipple Lotion - Lansinoh Breast feeding is sometimes not an easy task. The skin around the nipple is often sensitive and Lansinoh uses pure, hospital-grade lanoline to relieve dry, chapped and cracked nipples. It is recommended that you apply Lansinoh to your nipples for a few days before having your baby.
Wipes - Pigeon Premium These wipes are alcohol free, moisture balanced, and contain natural chamomile. They are made from a spun-lace fabric with a soft pillowed texture and have an optimum ph 5.0. If you are not comfortable using cotton wool balls and water these are suitable wipes for newborn bottoms.
Wrap - Miracle Blanket Wrapping an infant to sleep as well as your mid-wife does can be a daunting task. The Miracle Blanket uses a unique, patented design combining classic swaddling and lateral belly wrapping. This wrap helps babies sleep better, eases fussiness and prevents facial scratches.
Bag - Motherhen Fantastic multi-use bag. The soft toy box bag is a great size Hospital Bag to carry home all those beautiful baby gifts you receive in hospital. Once home it can convert into a toy box, laundry bag, linen bag...or, as it says, a bag for 'stuff'.

In addition to the products in The Hospital Pack, you will also need to pack (for you);
your own toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner and body wash or soap. Packing your favourite soap or body wash for your first shower can give you a real boost. You will also need your hair brush and the hair products you normally use, deodorant and pyjamas that make it easy to feed - perhaps with buttons at the front. Comfortable clothes for during the day and comfortable shoes or slippers are ideal. Nursing bras, if you plan to breast feed, or well fitting bras will also be important. Make sure you pack dark coloured underwear that is relatively loose fitting - you will need to pack full briefs, not g-strings, as you will need to use maternity pads even if you are having a caesarean.
For your baby you will need to pack;
6 singlets, 6 body suits (short for Summer / warmer weather and long for Winter / cooler weather), 4 pairs of socks, 5 newborn bibs, 2 pairs of mittens and 2 bonnets. 2-4 wraps and a baby blanket are ideal, in addition to the Miracle Blanket we have packed for you. Remember that you will often get clothing as gifts from friends and family and that a baby will grow very quickly in the first few months. Having a very large number of outfits may mean that your baby does not get wear out of every outfit.
You may also want to bring a special outfit to take your baby home in.
A bottle of champagne may help celebrate the arrival of your precious baby.
